We are sitting on a resource that has a potential market worth tens of billions of Euro, that could stimulate new innovations, and that could increase the transparency and governance of public life. That resource is the data held by European public sector bodies. Last week the European Commission took a major step forward on the road to Open Data with the launch of an Open Data Strategy for Europe.

DUBlinked is a new network for sharing data to facilitate innovation within the Dublin Region.
The four Dublin Local Authorities with NUI Maynooth have announced the
establishment of DUBlinked, an innovative new data-sharing network. The network is seeking to link data, sectors, skills and people to generate new commercial opportunities for the Dublin Region. DUBlinked will also provide the Dublin Regions first Open Data Platform which makes public data available for research and reuse.
To enable the start up phase of this project IBM Research is providing, on a non
exclusive basis, a platform of open collaboration technologies and research tools.

Fingal Open Data has been given a facelift and additional features have been added. The site now includes Applications and Blog sections.
People have started building Apps, Visualisations and Services with Fingal Open Data. The new Applications section of the site provides a place to showcase the uses that the data has been put to. If you have built something with our data, please let us know and we can feature it in the Applications section. The more examples of inspirational uses of the data that we can feature, the more we can encourage other agencies to join us in releasing data.
